Only share a little knowledge with beginners, because myself also still a beginner. to know some basic terms and ways of working in photography is tricky. there is the term "Golden Triangle in the world of photography" was referring to the three ways of working aperture, shutter speed and ISO, three of which will determine the darkness or lightness of a photo.
Aperture / Diafragma
Aperture is the opening in which the light enters the camera lens. When a large opening, will be a lot of incoming light in comparison with small openings. Besides being one way of controlling the incoming light, aperture in use also to control depth of field (depth of field / dof).
For example, when the surrounding light is too bright. we could shrink the opening (aperture). and when the low-light conditions around us, we can raise the aperture
Aperture also affects the depth of field (depth of field - dof). When we set parge opening of aperture, it affect the depths of space becomes thin, consequently subject becomes blurred background. Small aperture makes the depth of field becomes thick, making all areas of the picture to be sharp or is in focus.
Confusion when setting the aperture opening is due to number and size of aperture openings Is reversed. So, tune in to a small aperture number, that means a large aperture openings. while setting the aperture to a large number, it turned to a small aperture opening.
Example: f / 1, f / 1.4, f / 2, f / 4. f / 5.6, f / 8, f / 16, f / 22, and so on.
Quite confusing right?.
Each lens has a maximum aperture and minimum. Figures contained in the lens such as f / 3.5-5.6 means of the maximum aperture varies from f / 3.5 to f / 5.6.
Shutter Speed
Shutter speed is duration when camera opening sensor, much longer the duration, there more light is absorbed and our images will also increasingly brighter
Count shutter speed using a second or fractions of seconds, usually starting from 1/4000 shutter speed set is done from inside the camera and not from the lens
Besides affecting the amount of light entering, shutter speed also affects the image as :
A. Setting a fast shutter speed can freeze a moving image, for example when shooting sports coverage
B. setting a slow shutter speed to capture objects periodic movement. for example when we capture image of waterfalls
ISO
ISO is the size of the sensor sensitivity to light. iso size usually starts from 100,200,400 and continue to multiply up to 6400 or much higher.
ISO is set in a small number then the lens sensitivity to light will be low. ISO is set in a large antlers, sensitivity of lens will rise higher. However, the height of the ISO can eliminate the fineness of the image and trigger spots in an image or we called it "Noise". Even in dark conditions, we will need a higher ISO.
In the end ... dark or light of photos is your taste. But if we look carefully that three things could improve our image or even damage it. so we'd better learn to not forget the golden triangle function.
Learn and Share, Kind Regards :)
